Carl F. Herring, DDS

Carl F. Herring, DDS was born and raised in San Antonio. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin and then his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Carl Herring has been practicing family-oriented, general dentistry in Elgin since 1977. For over 40 years, he has watched the town grow and prosper, and he loves serving and being a part of this community!

Dr. Carl Herring is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Carl and his wife Debbie are members of Elgin’s First United Methodist Church. They have two wonderful children Scott and Robyn Herring. It continues to be a real joy and blessing for Dr. Carl to practice dentistry alongside his son, Dr. Scott Herring, and solving the world's problems at the end of the day is a bonus.

Dr. Carl and his wife are also blessed to have a wonderful daughter-in-law, Jennifer, and three precious grandchildren living so close to home. Dr. Carl is an active sports enthusiast and loves going to University of Texas baseball, basketball and football games, especially when they win! He and his wife also enjoy traveling to new and interesting destinations.

Dr. Carl has enjoyed the many friendships that have developed with patients over the years and considers time with a patient well spent even when it does not involve dentistry.

Our main goal at Elgin Family Dental has always been to protect the health of our patients, our team, and our community.  In light of Gov. Abbott's executive order and direction from the TSBDE our practice is re-opening Monday, May 11, 2020 for all dental procedures.
  • Our online practice portal is always open.  You can log in at www.patientconnect365.com to access your appointments, office forms and documents.  You can also reach the portal under the "Patient Information Tab" on this website.
  • Our intentions are for our office to have normal M-Th office hours, but during this transition time, our  hours may be more fluid, so please check our office voice message for the latest hours
  • You will notice some changes in our office procedures, which will be sent to our patients before their appointment.
